SCES Trauma Coach Message

  • “With acts of violence reported daily on the news and, unfortunately, occurring frequently in school systems, the role of a trauma-informed coach is critical to families and educators. Whether it is a school-wide crisis or a student with family concerns, trauma-informed coaches can help ease the burdens students carry. By providing behavioral modifications to students, I provide teachers and caregivers with the tools necessary to assist the child during a traumatic event.”

    The Three Types of Trauma

Acute trauma occurs as an isolated event, such as a severe accident, medical procedure, or being a victim of a crime.

Chronic trauma is when stressful or threatening events are experienced repeatedly, such as domestic violence.

Complex trauma results from multiple and ongoing traumatic events such as abuse or neglect, living with alcoholism or substance abuse, and suffering from financial, food, and/or housing instability.

How does your mind, body, and soul store trauma?

Trauma can make you question everything you think you know about life, and about yourself. It can make you feel unsafe, unstable, unlovable, and untrusting.

Our focus is to help students heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. Our goal is to help youth grow from their struggles, heal from pain, and move forward to where they want to be in life.”
