Virginia state law requires a parent or guardian of a child to provide certain information to the child's school division.

Note:
Potential Pre-K students must be 4 years old by September 30, 2025 in order to enroll in the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
Potential Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 30, 2025 in order to enroll in the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.

STEP 1:
PREPARE the Required Documents for Enrollment

To apply for enrollment in SCPS, families will need to submit the PS Enrollment online application in STEP 2, which requires carefully inputting information and uploading the following documents:

  • Birth certificate (Schedule an appointment when completing the online application to present an official copy to the school's counselor or registrar.)


  • Income verification (Required only for enrollment in the Pre-K/VPI Program)


  • Commonwealth of VA School Entrance Health Form - (Click here to download the VA Health form.)

  • Valid driver's license

  • Three proofs of residency. Residency documents must show the parent's/guardian's name and current address. Acceptable documentation includes:

    > Copy of deed with current address and parent/guardian's name
    > Copy of current lease with current address and parent/guardian's name
    > A current utility bill that includes the parent/guardian's name and the address of the student's residence
    > Current real estate tax receipt with current address and parent/guardian's name
    > Sussex County property tax statement for the current year that shows the parent/guardian's
    name and address
    > Other official correspondence from a governmental agency

STEP 2:
Complete the Online Enrollment Application

A. Parents/Guardians enrolling a student in SCPS for the first time will need to create a PowerSchool Enrollment account using the link below.

All required enrollment steps must be completed before a child starts school. If you need support, please contact the School Counseling Department at the anticipated school.

B. Enroll in SCPS in the upcoming 2025-2026 school year by selecting this link: Online Enrollment Application.



Note: After completing and submitting the application, contact the designated school to schedule a time to meet with the school's counselor and complete the registration process.
