The SCHS Tigers are in action! Here’s this week’s athletic schedule!
Dear SCES Families:
We have just concluded another productive and rewarding week at school, and I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and enthusiasm shown by our students, staff, and families. A special shout-out goes to Mrs. Wooden and her team for organizing such a wonderful Title I Luncheon for our Grandparents. It was a fantastic event that truly brought our school community together—job well done!
A big thank you to Mrs. Shelton for providing cookies for our staff and students. They were enjoyed by all, and we are truly grateful for her generosity and thoughtfulness.
We also extend our appreciation to the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department for celebrating National Coffee with a Cop Day with our third graders. Sheriff Giles and members of his team visited classrooms, read books to students, and enjoyed juice while spending quality time with our children. It was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen our school–community partnership, and we are so thankful for their support.
Together, moments like these remind us what a strong and caring community we have. Thank you, as always, for partnering with us in making SCES a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.
As we look ahead, we are preparing for a very busy but exciting week filled with learning, celebration, and community spirit. This coming week is Homecoming Week for the high school, and we are excited to join in the festivities. On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, our students will attend the Homecoming Parade at 12:30 pm. We’ll line up around the bus loop to cheer on the high school students, and we encourage students to get creative by making posters and signs to showcase our school spirit.
On Friday, October 10, 2025, all grade levels will attend the Homecoming Pep Rally at the high school beginning at 1:15 pm. This event promises to be a fun and energetic celebration for our entire school community.
In addition to Homecoming, we have a special treat for our students on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 am. We are honored to welcome Malcolm Mitchell—author, poet, and former professional football player—who will share his inspiring story and his love of reading during a schoolwide assembly.
Lastly, the first nine weeks benchmark assessments will be administered the week of October 13–17. Please ensure that your child is studying nightly and coming to school well-rested and prepared. Your support at home makes a big difference in their success.
